What Georgia Seasonal Produce Is in Season? A Guide to Eating with the Seasons
Fresh, local, and full of flavor — here’s what’s in season this month in Georgia and how to use it.
Eating with the seasons isn’t just a trend — it’s a way to enjoy food the way nature intended. At Arrows Farm, we harvest produce at its peak, so every Veggie Box is packed with flavor, nutrition, and variety. Whether you're new to seasonal eating or a longtime fan, here's what’s growing this month — and how to make the most of it.

In Season This Month (May in North Georgia):
Your May Veggie Box will include:
Swiss Chard – sauté it with garlic and olive oil or toss it into a pasta dish for color and nutrients.
Lettuce Mixes – perfect for salads, sandwiches, or layered under a protein bowl.
Bok Choy – slice and stir-fry with soy sauce and sesame oil, or grill for a smoky twist.
Kohlrabi – peel and slice thinly for a crisp snack, roast with olive oil, or grate into a slaw.
Radishes – slice thin for tacos or toast, or roast to mellow their flavor.
Strawberries – sweet and juicy! Use them in smoothies, salads, or simply eat them fresh.
Spinach – toss into smoothies, sauté with eggs, or stir into soups.
Arugula – peppery and bold; delicious in salads, on pizza, or blended into pesto.
Kale – massage with olive oil for salads, blend into smoothies, or bake into crispy chips.
Parsley – chop into salads, mix into dressings, or use as a garnish for just about everything.

Simple Recipe Ideas Using Seasonal Produce:
Strawberry Arugula Salad – Toss fresh strawberries with arugula, feta, and a balsamic glaze.
Kale & Sweet Potato Hash – Sauté kale with sweet potatoes and onions, then top with an egg.
Garlicky Swiss Chard Pasta – Add chopped chard to your favorite pasta with lemon and parmesan.
Kohlrabi Slaw – Peel, grate, and mix with shredded carrots and a creamy dressing.
Spinach & Cheese Quesadillas – A kid favorite and quick dinner win!
How to Make the Most of Seasonal Eating:
Use Every Bit – Don't toss those radish tops or parsley stems — use them in stocks or pesto.
Pre-Wash Your Greens – Store clean greens in a container with a paper towel to make meals quicker.
Plan Around the Box – Let your Veggie Box inspire your weekly meals, then shop to fill in gaps.

Kid-Friendly Veggie Fun
Get the kids involved! Have them pick their favorite veggie from the box, wash it, and help with meal prep. Give them a simple job like tearing lettuce or decorating a salad plate — it's fun and builds healthy habits.
