At Arrows Farm, every veggie tells a story.
We don’t just grow food. We grow with intention. And we want you to know that when you unpack your veggie box each week, you're opening something far more meaningful than a bag of groceries. You're experiencing the care, creativity, and sustainability that are woven into every leaf, root, and bloom.
Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how your North Georgia farm-fresh produce comes to life, straight from our family farm in Clarkesville to your kitchen table.

It Begins Beneath Our Feet: Soil as Storyteller
We believe that good food starts with good soil. The kind that smells rich, teeming with life and promise. The kind you want to sink your hands into.
At Arrows Farm, we don’t rely on synthetic fertilizers or quick fixes. Instead, we treat soil as a living system—nurturing it with effective microbes and homemade compost teas brewed right here on the farm. We use ingredients like unsulfured molasses, seaweed extract, and yes—on more than one occasion—a few ounces of expired frozen breast milk. Because when you’re feeding the soil like you’d nourish a child, every bit counts.
We rotate our crops thoughtfully. We plant cover crops like clover and Austrian winter peas to protect and replenish. We turn under old growth not as waste, but as a gift back to the earth.
This slow, circular rhythm is what sets our farm apart. It’s what makes our carrots sweet and our lettuces last longer. It’s why our green beans taste like summer.

Planting by Hand, With Heart
We don't use big machines. Each row of vegetables at Arrows Farm is planted by hand. It’s not always pretty. But it is always personal.
Every row is shaped by swales on contour, a permaculture technique that slows water runoff, prevents erosion, and nourishes deep root systems. These natural contours mimic the rhythms of nature, letting the land breathe instead of forcing it to perform.
Our children help us drop seeds into the soil. Their small hands scatter arugula, poke holes for beans, or pat down baby lettuces. This isn’t just a farm—it’s a classroom and our home.
We pair plants that thrive together: nasturtiums with cucumbers, peppers and marigolds with tomatoes, corn with beans and squash. Companion planting helps reduce pests and boosts flavor, and it’s also a beautiful way to teach that we all grow better in good company.

Sustainability, One Tiny Step at a Time
We believe that no act of care is too small. Our compost includes everything from used coffee filters to vegetable scraps, all broken down in piles that steam in the morning light. Nothing is wasted.
When the daikon radishes bolt, we let them bloom to feed our pollinators. When something doesn’t grow as expected, we try again.
And when a seed from last season surprises us with new life? We save it, label it, and plan its future home.
Harvested with Intention
By the time your veggie box is packed, each item has passed through our hands. We harvest in the morning the day of, before the heat sets in, and rinse everything in cool well water. We don’t ship our produce across the country. We don’t flash-freeze it or store it in warehouses.
Instead, we harvest and hand it to you.
Every veggie box is different, depending on what the garden is offering. One week it might be a tangle of rainbow chard, a handful of herbs, or flavorful onions and garlic. Another week it could be deep red beets, a variety of lettuces, or vibrant nasturtiums—edible flowers with a peppery bite.
When you open your box, we want it to feel like opening a gift: a reminder that food can be joyful, alive, and deeply connected to place.

Why We Do It This Way
We do it because we want our children to know where food comes from. Because we want our community to eat real food, grown with real care.
We do it because it matters—for the health of our bodies, the health of the land, and the strength of our community.
We do it because each veggie box is an invitation: to slow down, to cook something nourishing, to gather with people you love. To eat seasonally, locally, and mindfully.
